- Proposal:
Describe what you wish to do and any special requirements. You may propose works/projects that are currently in-progress, but please describe the anticipated final outcome. If you are proposing a project other than a gallery exhibition (e.g. performance, screening, event series), please provide details on frequency or duration and public engagement plans. - Artist Statement:
This is an opportunity to provide details and context about your artistic practice and approach beyond just the project you have proposed, your history of practice or core creative aims. - What is your relationship to the place you live and work (e.g. settler, guest, Indigenous)? Please briefly describe how this informs your practice or the way you approach your work.
grunt gallery is located on the territories of the (Musqueam), (Squamish) and (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations, who have lived in kinship with this land, water and air for thousands of years. Applicants from the Musqueam, Squamish and Tsleil-Waututh Nations are not required to answer this and may simply indicate that they belong to a Host Nation. - If your proposal is selected to be presented at grunt, what would you want to learn, practice or try to help provide access to your work for d/Disabled, d/Deaf, Sick, Mad and/or Neurodiverse communities?
We approach every exhibition as an opportunity to creatively address access barriers and conflicting access needs, and invite you to briefly explain how you might be interested in engaging with this. Read our FAQ section about accessibility at grunt. - Support Materials:
Visual art: 5-10 files (72 dpi minimum) including a numbered image list. Please name image files with their corresponding number, your name, work title, dimensions.
